Earlier this month I got to travel to Orlando to photograph Emma + Ben's central Florida wedding at Highland Manor surrounded by giant, ancient oak trees and steeped in 110 years of history. (Yes, I made a pit stop at Harry Potter World, and yes, I drank alllll the butter beer.) You might remember this beautiful couple from their Orlando engagement session I posted earlier this year. Since I don't always get to photograph the engagement sessions for my destination couples, it was awesome to see this beautiful day come full circle. Emma + Ben are one of the most emotionally in-sync couples I've ever met; this, in turn, made for some of the most genuine, raw portraits I've ever created without giving any direction at all. When I posted the black and white image of the couple hugging on Instagram a few weeks ago, a friend of mine texted me, "Damn. You can tell he loves her so freaking much."
This is one of those moments where I get a little choked up thinking about what I get to do for a living, and this particular groom's mom helped me to remember that. During the 'father daughter dance,' she tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I can tell you love your job very much. You haven't stopped smiling behind your camera all day." I notice myself doing this from time to time, especially during my favorite moments; the moments I look forward to experiencing at my own wedding, but it made me feel so good to know that other people notice, too.
Thank you, Emma + Ben, for giving me the little push I needed to finish up one of the best wedding seasons of my career. <3
